Class 15: Qigong as a Rite of Renewal #2: Transforming and Embodying your Psycho-spiritual Self

This is the second class on Tai Chi /Qigong as a rite of renewal. We said that every posture in Tai Chi and Qigong can be viewed as a rite of renewal. This week we’ll focus more on the transformative elements of various specific postures. From a postmodern perspective we can suit the meanings of the postures to our specific psycho-spiritual purposes.

For example:

• For example, if one is wimpy in standing up to authority figures, the Tai Chi movement “White Snake Sticks out its Tongue,” activates the energy to speak truth to power.

• Lean how the four purposes of each Tai Chi movement (self-healing, spiritual unfoldment, self-defense, and changing one’s life stance psychologically) can be applied to transforming one’s self in these different spheres.

• The importance of activating energy before Standing Meditation and dispersing stagnant chi after Standing.

• Moving with “integral force.”

• Everyone who learns Tai chi Chuan learns that the word “Chuan” means fist. You’ll learn an esoteric meaning of ”chuan,”which may change the way you make a fist for the rest of your lfe

• Putting our intention into the field of energy — or is the field of energy putting various intentions into us?

• Using the metaphor of Japanese Tea ceremony, to find the “big pot” for renewal by returning to the source of chi (Wuji).

• “Keep shining like the stars you are.” A Bodymind Healing Qigong invocation to activate the star you are. Rumi Quote, “Human beings are just stars wrapped in skin. The light you’ve always been searching for has always been found within.”
